You’ve Done 25 Of These? Who’s In It This Time?

Edward Price
Site creator and Podcast host; as surprised as you are that we managed to get to twenty five of these without someone being killed off, written out of the show or dying on us. Thing is, now he’s said that he’s afraid he’s jinxed it and is now hoping the casualty is someone who hasn’t been on the show in nearly forever.

So How Are You Celebratng This Milestone Episode?

- We start as we never do with a short episode of Ed’s Podcasting Kitchen Nightmares

- Then we move swiftly on to What we’ve been playing: Including XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Resident Evil Revelations, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Thomas Was Alone, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Phoenix Wright, Night of the Rabbit, Pro Evo 2008 (Still, Richie?!), The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, Fallout 1, and MONACO: What’s Yours Is Mine.

- With half of the year gone, it’s time to look at current GOTY contenders, and we fail to really reach a consensus on this, though our nominees include Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and Aliens: Colonial Marines (go on, guess).

- We try and predict the best releases of the latter half of 2013.

- Ric attempts to sell the Xbox One to Richie using nothing but facts and a northern accent.

- We decide where Microsoft went wrong with their announcement and explain why it left us so cold.

- Being the charitable gents we are, we do attempt to try and fix everyone and make it a console worth selling.

- E3 is abound, so there’s false predictions aplenty as we think of the worst things that could be announced next month.

- The Ouya is here! Are all other consoles defunct now? No. No, they’re not.

- Ric wraps things up yet again with a pretty little song.

Hopefully there’ll be another podcast in June after E3! Look out for it it might be cool!

Life’s A Game Podcast 24 – PokéSavile

If snapping lurid pictures of probably underage animals and blowing your flute at them isn’t wrong, then what is? Chowing down on Ronald McDonald’s Jizz Sauce? Taking part in a Nazi fashion parade for Cheesecake? And which of those is considered a sex act in Japan? Don’t worry, Life’s A Game doesn’t promise to have the answers to any of these questions.

So how can you listen to this then? Well luckily, we know the answer to that! For example, if you right-click and select “Save As” on that hyperlink above, you can download the podcast to listen to at your pleasure!

And if you don’t want to do that, you can always subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and leave us a lovely review about how great we are!

Fine, If You Have All The Answers Then What Are You Talking About In This Episode?

- What we’ve been playing lately. (Tomb Raider, Poker Night at the Inventory 2, Bioshock Infinite, Real Steel, Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, Pro Evo 2008, Luigi’s Mansion 2, Lost Planet 3 and The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct)

- The new Xbox is being revealed in a month, but the bigger news is you can now order Pizza Hut from your Xbox! That is a thing now! Yaaay!

- If it helps, we also predict what the next Xbox is going to be like.

- Nintendo aren’t doing an E3 conference this year or something. We question whether we really care or if it’s basically pointless with their Nintendo Direct conferences being a fraction of the cost and just as successful?

- Last time we discovered that Simcity was borked up the borkhole, and this time… it’s still buggered! Richie has a thing or two to say about that.

- Call of Duty Leaks. Tesco leaked something by Infinity Ward called “Call of Duty Ghosts”. We ponder if it’s legit or not, then Patrick Swayze gets involved and it all goes a bit Roadhouse.

-That other XCOM shooter thing might still happen. Is that something the gang really care about or did Unknown give us all the XCOM goodness we needed?

- As a PR Stunt David Cage has sent out 2000 page scripts that are completely blank after the first couple of pages. We have some fun with this thing and wildly speculate and come up with stupid plot twists and potential dialogue!

- Ric and Richie finish off with a blues jam about the whole podcast that you’ve just listened to.

Hey, there might be another podcast next month! Who knows? Come back then!

Oh, Those Guys? What Are They Talking About, Then?

- Things get ghetto and on tha streetz yo as Life’s A Game becomes Life’s A Rap.

- What we’ve been playing – including God of War Ascension, Little Inferno, Tomb Raider (which Ed loved, and Richie was apathetic to) and Of Orcs and Men (Warning: Minor spoilers for the beginning and one moment of the end of Tomb Raider).

- EA gets scrutinised heavily thanks to the plentiful amount of blunders surrounding Simcity and the retirement of their CEO.

- We decide what we’d do if we were suddenly snapped up by EA to run the company, with ideas ranging from free-to-play simulators to the Limp Bizkit Power Hour.

- Richie asks what’s been going on with the Tropes Vs Women in Videogames series by Anita Sarkeesian.

- Ric details his recent experiences in making girls cry.

- Richie tells us all about his new website.

- There’s a quick wrap-up of other news in gaming, including the confirmation of no single-player Tomb Raider DLC, Deus Ex: Wii U, and our initial impressions of the PS4.

- Ric once again closes the podcast with a song about what you’ve just heard.

We’ll probably see you again next month or something maybe?

In this episode, the Three Amigas get into the following adventures…

- The episode starts with what we’ve been playing, including Far Cry 3, Uncharted 3 (with spoilers for the end of Uncharted 2), DmC: Devil May Cry, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Fist Of The North Star: Ken’s Rage 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengance, Skate 2, F1 Race Stars and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

- Ric explains his issue with art games, their pricing structure and why he doesn’t use Twitter much anymore.

- The Aliens: Colonial Marines controversy is almost discussed but instead we think about podcast regular Richie and his opinion of it before moving on to what someone who is actually on this episode thinks.

- Tired of everyone making predictions for the Sony Announcement most of the gaming press insisted was for the Playstation 4 (and were eventually proven to be right), we came up with our own ideas of the best things they could announce instead. (We admit this discussion was poorly timed as we recorded before the event only remembering afterwards that the podcast would be released after the conference)

- Wreck-It Ralph has finally been released in the UK, so we wax lyrical about a film that does videogames right, even if it doesn’t use the cameos well.

- Ed has another plan for Keegan’s wedding.

- Ed pitches a new take on the Uncharted series, spawning another “With A Twist!”, with “What if it was Uncharted 3, but…”

- We look at the next month’s releases and debate which of them we’re most looking forward to, Ric desires something a little Japanese and the Three Amigas brainstorm the next viral phenomenon.

- The episode ends with Ric singing us a song based on the podcast’s events.

See you maybe in March?

Ric’s Prototype for Life’s A Game: The GameMiddle Distance Games presents – Life’s A Game: The Game (Alpha)

Okay, so now I know who’s talking, what are they talking about?

- Games we’ve been playing lately, including Hitman Absolution, Assassin’s Creed 3, DmC: Devil May Cry, Rise of the Guardians, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles, Mario Kart 7 and Saints Row the Third.

- This week’s first “With A Twist…” takes us to the underworld with “What if it was DmC: Devil May Cry, but…?”

- Breaking news occurs as we learn during recording that HMV are going into administration and we discuss none of the good times we’ve had with said store.

- We start the first of our 2012 awards, with Ric giving his “Shook the Pillars of Heaven” award to Sleeping Dogs, with Hitman Absolution and Mass Effect 3 as runners-up, whilst Ric becomes accidentally racist.

- Richie debates whether he should buy Far Cry 3.

- Keegan gives us his award – “The Most Fun You Can Have While Dying” and gives it to Tokyo Jungle. The rest of the gang nominate FTL: Faster Than Light, Worms Revolution and Hannah Montana: The Movie: The Game (even though it wasn’t released in 2012, trust us, we know), as well as why it’s okay for Ric to own the latter game, but not Richie.

- Meanwhile, Ed tries to plan Keegan’s wedding, with unsuccessful results.

- Richie delivers his award – “The X-Factor Audience” and attributes it to FIFA 13, with the rest of the cast nominating Doritos Crash Course (the DLC came out last year so it sort of counts) and Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. The discussion then turns to how weird the Xbox Live community can get and Richie explains why eating Tapas is better than raising a family.

- We bring back “With A Twist” as Ed pitches the cast a new idea for a game (“Fanboys Revenge“), prompting them to build on it with ideas of their own.

- With his game unsuccessfully pitched, Ed presents the final award – “Marmite Wank“, and is immediately caught out for stealing one of Keegan’s ideas and renaming it to something sillier. Regardless, he presses on and names Dishonored as the winner, with other members nominating Halo 4. The discussion then turns into lighting engines and Ed successfully sets Richie off on another rant.

- We end on our resolutions for the forthcoming gaming year and what games we’re looking forward to before saying goodbye via an impromptu Richie pitch called “Tiger Fuck Up” and a guitar solo.

Okay, so every time I predict when there’s going to be a new Life’s A Game, that doesn’t actually go as planned, so… if we say there’s likely to be one next month, that’s probably the most realistic bet.
So, see you soon!
